Well I wouldn't recommend buying coins from eBay because most of their coins are overpriced or over graded. I know the mint is a good place to u.s. coins they usually sell newer coins. has a large selection of coins. I have purchased coins from them before. Have you tried looking at an antique dealer or coin dealer in your area? Coin dealers are usually the best place to buy coins. I mostly buy my coins from coin shops or places like that. It isn't worth it. First "The Mint" is a private company, *not* the US mint who makes all our normal coins. They do this as a business. You've got four gold quarters, I assume? That cost them $1, plus about 5 cents per coin for the gold plating (It can be just a few atoms thick). The rest was shipping, handling and profit to the company. These are not "gold coins". I have not purchased coins from the store before, but all the coins look genuine although they carry highly marked-up prices. These people are trying to sell a Kennedy Half for $12.50 each! I wouldn't recommend that place unless you're in desperate need of something from there....

I have not gone on any auction sites in sometime. It sounds like the German central bank is selling coins by the bag. They might be the old coins from before the country went on the Euro. Unless you are a date collector of German coins I see no use for these coins. Have you tried to get a hold of the people selling the coins to find out just what they are? They could also be selling them for the metal content. They will all be German coins, you can do much better in buy world coins by the pound ...
